Concession for temporary employment as sheep shearers: WRK2.6

1. WRK2.6.1 What are the requirements?

From 1 April 2013, a non-visa national can apply as a seasonal concession to work as a sheep shearer in the UK. This concession will allow entry from 1 April to 30 June for this purpose.

The requirements of this concession are:

  • The applicant is genuinely seeking entry for the purpose of undertaking employment, or providing services, as a sheep shearer, and
  • The applicant will be able to maintain and accommodate himself without recourse to public funds, and
  • The applicant will leave the UK at the end of their stay, and
  • The applicant arrives in the UK for this purpose between 1 April and 30 June.

2. WRK2.6.2 Terms of employment

The applicant must provide a work contract confirming the nature of their employment and their remuneration.

2.1 WRK2.6.3 Endorsements

This concession will allow entry from 1 April to 30 June for this purpose. Those meeting the requirements and arriving between these dates will qualify for leave to enter for a maximum period of three months from the date of entry. (i.e. the latest expiry of leave under this concession would be 30 September).

3. WRK2.6.4 Refusals

If you are not satisfied that the person meets the requirements of this concession, entry clearance should be refused on the basis that the person is seeking entry for a purpose which is not covered by the Immigration Rules, namely paragraph 320 (1). The application would not attract a right of appeal.
