Use form WT1 if you cannot send your Company Tax Return online because of an IT problem with HMRC online services.

From 1 April 2026 you should use commercial software to file annual accounts and Company Tax Returns with HMRC.
You can only file a paper Company Tax Return if you:
- have a reasonable excuse
- are filing in Welsh
You’ll need to complete and submit a WT1 form with a completed paper return if you’ve been unable to send your return online because of an IT problem with HMRC online services.
How to complete the form
You need to:
- Download and save the form on your computer.
- Open it using the latest free version of Adobe Reader.
- Complete it on-screen.
- Print it off and send it to HMRC with your paper return.
The form may not work if you try to open it in your internet browser. If the form does not open, contact online services support for more help.
