Matthew Coats CB will leave his role as Director General Government Business Services in July 2022.

West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust

Mr Coats made an application for advice on joining the Trust as Chief Executive Officer, though the Trust announced the appointment before ACOBA had considered and provided its advice. ACOBA refused to provide advice as a result of this breach of the Rules. An accessible version of this letter can be found here.

ACOBA wrote to the Chair of West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust regarding this breach. An accessible version of the letter to the Trust can be found here. The Chair of the Trust responded to ACOBA.
