Clockhouse Nursery Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application seeks to vary licence serial number 29/38/08/0023, which authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata comprising of confined chalk at National Grid Reference (NGR) TQ 34141 98500 at Forty Hill, Enfield, Middlesex for the purpose of spray irrigation.

The variation applied for proposes the addition of a borehole at NGR TQ 34135 98500, an additional purpose of potable water supply, and variation of the abstraction (aggregated for both purposes) as follows:

  • Reduced maximum hourly abstraction from 5.46 cubic metres (m3) to 5 m3

  • Increased maximum daily abstraction from 32.73 m3 to 106 m3

  • Increased maximum annual abstraction from 4,887 m3 to 27,717 m3
