Cleveland Potash Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017.
The Environment Agency has received the following abstraction licence application within the Tees catchment.
The application is for a licence to transfer water as follows:
- at an instantaneous rate of 59 litres per second
- 212 cubic metres an hour
- 5,095 cubic metres a day
- 1,209,769 cubic metres a year
- between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year
- at National Grid References (NGRs) NZ 76219 17987, NZ 76497 18233
- from abstraction location Underground strata at Boulby Mine, Saltburn by the Sea, Cleveland.
The water will be used for Transfer for the purpose of dewatering.
