Syria Relief commits to using the technical knowledge and expertise to support the development of policies on disability with the UK international Development and Humanitarian sector.

Timeframe and/or implementation plan (75 words limit)

Over the next 5 years Syria Relief is committed to using the ‘Children living with disabilities inside Syria’ report to push for mainstream inclusion across all Disaster Risk Reduction and humanitarian sectors, and implement our commitments in the Charter ‘Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action’

A twin-track approach is needed to improve provisions and services for children with disabilities during periods of conflict. Syria Relief commits to include children with disabilities within education; pursuant to SDG4.

Timeframe and/or implementation plan (75 words limit)

Over the next 5 years, Syria Relief is committed to implement disability-specific efforts for children living with disabilities inside Syria, such as more inclusion in classes and schools, and specialised training for school faculty.

C. Commitments for Economic Empowerment:

Syria Relief commits to gather evidence and share best practice from across our members’ programmes, and use this to scale up efforts to encourage greater awareness, especially in non-formal sector, and increase body of evidence on economic empowerment

Through our 5 year research plan we aim to gather evidence that will produce the best policies and recommendations to empower the disabled economically.

Syria Relief commits to the collection of rigorous, reliable and comparable data and evidence on disability amongst our networks.

Following a 5 year plan – Syria Relief will undertake more evidence based research, giving organizations more essential info on Syria to shape projects and humanitarian assistance

Syria Relief commits to consider and take into account the different forms of discrimination that girls and women with disabilities experience within Syria over the next 5 years.

Syria Relief is committing to strengthening existing case management processes for persons with disabilities so that we and others can develop best practice to support and integrate children with disabilities in humanitarian projects.
