A. Commitments to eliminate Stigma and Discrimination

Age International commits to helping end age, disability and gender discrimination as part of the HelpAge global network by ensuring that the voices of older women and men living with disabilities are heard by decision-makers, and their rights and contributions are recognised and valued.

Timeframe and/or implementation plan (75 words limit)

From 2018-20 Age International will support HelpAge to develop new advocacy and campaigning guidance on ageing, disability and gender. As part of the HelpAge global network, we will also support the WHO-led global campaign against ageism that will begin from 2019/20 to ensure it includes and benefits older people with disabilities.

B. Commitments for Data Disaggregation

Age International commits to improving the collection, reporting and analysis of disaggregated data, including by disability, age and gender, to ensure that the situation and needs of the most marginalised people are properly represented. We will work with our implementing partner HelpAge to implement its SADDD (minimum Sex, Age, Disability Disaggregation Data) guidelines with partners and programmes funded by Age International, and will join the Inclusive Data Charter to strengthen commitment to inclusive data globally.

Timeframe and/or implementation plan (75 words limit)

Age International will support the rollout of the HelpAge SADDD guidelines from 2018-20 and will continue to invest in the disaggregation of data over the longer-term.

C. Commitments for people with disabilities in Humanitarian Contexts

As a member of the Disaster’s Emergency Committee, through the START network, Bond, and as the UK member of the HelpAge global network, Age International commits to promoting and raising awareness of the Humanitarian Inclusion Standards for Older People and People with Disabilities (now part of the SPHERE Humanitarian Standards Partnership) to ensure people with disabilities and older people are included in humanitarian action.

Timeframe and/or implementation plan (75 words limit)

We will work with HelpAge in 2018-20 to develop a strategy for the promotion of the Humanitarian Inclusion Standards through advocacy, training and learning activity.
