City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council : application made to impound water

City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to obstruct or impede the flow of the River Aire at Salts Mill Weir, Saltaire at National Grid Reference (NGR) SE 13944 38228.
A hydro-electric power scheme shall be installed at the existing weir consisting of an Archimedean screw turbine, a fish pass and an eel pass. A notch will also be incorporated into the weir to aid fish passage. All of the water used to operate the scheme shall be returned to the River Aire immediately downstream of the weir.
