Citric acid imported from Cambodia (Anti-Dumping Duty 2253)

Published 21 December 2017

Initiating a circumvention investigation concerning citric acid and making imports of the product, consigned from Cambodia whether or not originating there, subject to registration.

The Commission has published Regulation (EU) No 2017/2300 Official Journal reference L329, which initiates an investigation to determine whether the Anti-Dumping Duty (ADD) on imports of citric acid (including citrate dehydrate), originating in the People’s Republic of China, is being circumvented by products consigned from Cambodia.

Imports of citric acid consigned from Cambodia, whether or not originating there, will be made subject to registration.

This will take effect from 14 December 2017.

Customs authorities will register imports of the product for 9 months.

The following commodity codes have been introduced to incorporate the measures:

  • 2918 1400 20
  • 2918 1500 13

Interested parties should make themselves known to the Commission.

Cambodian producers may request exemption from registration or measures, subject to meeting conditions.

Time limits apply. Please refer to the regulation for further information.

At the end of the investigation, ADD may be applied retrospectively to relevant goods imported during the whole of this 9 months registration period.

Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight has been updated. The printed tariff will be updated in the February 2018 amendment.
