Details

We can ask the employer of a parent who pays child maintenance to take some money from the parent’s earnings or pension if the parent:

  • owes some child maintenance
  • has not made a satisfactory agreement to pay child maintenance

This is known as a deduction from earnings order.

This factsheet explains what this means for parents who pay child maintenance and parents who receive child maintenance.
