Updating government email domains: migrating from .gsi

This policy update ensures organisations are aware of the need to stop using gsi-family domain names and provides guidance for migrating their email service.

  1. All gsi-family domain names (gsi.gov.uk, gse.gov.uk, gcsx.gov.uk or gsx.gov.uk) must now be replaced with a government domain like gov.uk, gov.scot, llyw.cymru or gov.wales.

This guidance informs public-sector and commercial organisations of the need to stop using gsi-family domain names and provides help for migrating their service to a public cloud or other internet service.

Organisations must prioritise migrating their email service away from the gsi-family domain and complete their migration of all services before March 2019.

This policy covers all services that use a gsi-family domain name (gsi.gov.uk, gse.gov.uk, gcsx.gov.uk or gsx.gov.uk).
