CEMEX UK Materials Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number MD/028/0039/015 to abstract water from underground strata comprising carboniferous limestone at Dove Holes Quarry, Dove Hall,  Derbyshire at the area between National Grid References SK 08968 79434, SK 09338 79343, SK 09260 77665 and SK 08440 78353 for the purpose of transferring it without intervening use (dewatering) to a stream at National Grid Reference (NGR) SK 09164 76830 and a borehole at NGR SK 10181 79009.

The variation applied for is to increase the quantities of water to be abstracted as follows:

  • From 216 to 353.5 cubic metres per hour
  • From 5,184 to 8,483 cubic metres per day
  • From 1,294,797 to 3,096,295 cubic metres per year
  • Abstraction all year.
