Details of the application

Cemex UK Cement Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from Warwickshire Avon – Secondary Mudrocks at Lodge Farm Quarry Lake, Rugby, Warwickshire CV21 2RY. The abstraction location is within an area comprised of 4 National Grid References: SP 48215 75775, SP 48470 75776, SP 48471 75603 and SP 48214 75601.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 8 cubic metres an hour

  • 192 cubic metres a day

  • 59,568 cubic metres a year

  • All year round.

The water will be used for evaporative cooling at an adjacent cement plant.
