1. Name of project
Ebolowa, Kribi Road Project, Cameroon.
2. Description of project
The Government of the Republic of Cameroon, with the support of certain lenders, is considering the upgrade the national network RN 17 Ebolowa-Akom II-Kribi, located in the Southern Region of the Republic of Cameroon, specifically:
- Ebolowa-Akom II including the Ebolowa bypass and the Akom II bypass Length: 85Km,
- Akom II-Kribi including the Kribi bypass and the bridges over the Kienke River: Length 85 km.
The officials designated in the contract for the development of the Project are:
- The Client: The Minister of Public Works,
- The Head of the Market Department: The Director of Road Investments of the Ministry of Public Works; and
- The Market Engineer: The Regional Delegate of Public Works of the Southern Region.
Impresa Costruzioni Maltauro (“ICM”), an Italian company specialised in the construction sector, was awarded a contract from the Government of the Republic of Cameroon to carry out the construction activities of the Project.
The Kribi – Ebolowa road is located in an economic context marked by the recent completion of the Kribi deep-water port construction project and the planned Kribi – Edea and Kribi – Mintom railway projects. The Southern region is marked by the presence of mining activities in south-east Cameroon. The Project will provide improved and direct access to the new port in Kribi and bring about benefits over the entire southern administrative region of Cameroon, that will extend to the east of Cameroon and the north of the neighbouring countries found to the south.
The existing road network is limited and predominantly made of dirt roads generally in poor conditions that hamper the development of trade in the region. The upgrade of the Kribi Ebolowa road will reduce vehicle operating costs thanks to the upgrade from dirt road to asphalt road. This reduction in cost will bring benefits to all types of existing and future traffic

The Kribi – Ebolowa road is located in the South Region of the Republic of Cameroon.
