An application has been made to the Environment Agency by Carillion Capital Projects Limited and Morgan Sindall (Infrastructure) Plc trading as Carillion Morgan Sindall Joint Venture. The Environment Agency are required to give notice of this application.

The application is for full licences to abstract water from:

  • the Brough Beck at SE 23726 97392
  • the River Swale at SE 22501 99264

The proposal is to abstract water at the following rates and periods:

From the Brough Beck:

  • 10 cubic metres per hour
  • 80 cubic metres per day
  • 20,000 cubic metres per year

From the River Swale:

  • 10 cubic metres per hour
  • 100 cubic metres per day
  • 25,000 cubic metres per year

Between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for dust suppression during roadworks scheduled to be carried out on the A1 road between Leeming and Barton.
