Canal & River Trust has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017.
The Environment Agency has received the following abstraction licence application within the Upper Mersey catchment.
The application is for a licence to transfer water as follows:
- at an instantaneous rate of 1,345 litres per second
- 4,842 cubic metres an hour
- 116,191 cubic metres a day
- 2,436,530 cubic metres a year
- between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year
- at National Grid Reference SJ 93398 70339
- from abstraction location Rossendale Brook at Rossendale Brook Feeder, Sutton Lane Ends, Macclesfield.
The water will be used for transfer for the purpose of navigation authority operations.
