Canal and River Trust: application made to abstract water

Canal and River Trust (hereafter ‘The Trust’) has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to abstract water from Toddbrook Reservoir at National Grid Reference (NGR) SK 00799 80974 and discharge into the Todd Brook upstream of the River Goyt at NGR SK 00880 81065 without intervening use.
The application is to transfer water as follows:
- 8,396 cubic metres an hour
- 201,486 cubic metres a day
- 73,541,952 cubic metres a year
- at an instantaneous rate not exceeding 2,332.3 litres per second
- between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.
The purpose of this transfer will be level management within Toddbrook reservoir during and after storm events, whilst the Trust complete works to the dam’s auxiliary spillway.
