Details of the application

Canal and River Trust has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 8 of The Water Abstraction (Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2017.

The Environment Agency has received the following abstraction licence application within the Warwickshire Avon catchment.

The application is for a licence to transfer water as follows:

  • at an instantaneous rate of 1,795.9 litres per second
  • 6,465 cubic metres an hour
  • 155,000 cubic metres a day
  • 19,461,765 cubic metres a year
  • between 01 April and 31 March inclusive in each year
  • at National Grid Reference (NGR) SP 50733 80682
  • from abstraction location River Swift at River Swift Feeder, Churchover, Rugby.

The water will be used for transfer for the purpose of navigation authority operations.
