Cabinet Office Environmental Policy Statement
The Cabinet Office recognises its potential to impact the environment, positively or negatively, directly or indirectly, through its activities and services.
The department is committed to continually improving its environmental performance for the scope of its ISO14001:2015 certification, by, where possible, preventing pollution and protecting the environment from negative impacts, while ensuring compliance, as a minimum, with all legal and other obligations.
To support this commitment, the department operates an Environmental Management System (EMS) covering its London estate and conducts regular
and independent audits against the requirements of the ISO 14001:2015 standard.
The EMS covers activities related to the provision of office functions for policy staff and ministerial functions; including building and grounds maintenance; provision of supplies for offices; Chief Digital & Information Officer (CDIO) services; soft facilities management services.
EMS Objectives will as a minimum deliver on the targets set out in the Greening Government Commitments. This includes:
- protecting the environment
- reducing carbon emissions associated with our buildings and business travel
- reducing waste and increasing reuse and recycling opportunities
- using water more efficiently
- making use of technology to reduce environmental impact
- engaging with stakeholders to improve environmental performance, including in our supply chain
We will continually monitor performance against these objectives and the requirements of the ISO14001:2015 standard.
