C N Seeds Limited and W R Jackson & Son has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial numbers: AN/033/0026/052 and AN/033/0036/028 which both authorise the abstraction of water from several reaches within the Littleport and Downham Internal Drainage Board (IDB), Stoke Ferry IDB and Southery and District IDB.

The variation applied for is to increase the licensed annual quantity by 11,000 cubic metres per year for each licence as part of a water rights trade with an existing licence holder. The daily volume for licence AN/033/0026/052 will increase to 1,161 cubic metres. The daily volume for licence AN/033/0036/028 will increase to 2,091 cubic metres. The variation will also involve three additional reaches at National Grid References TL 54620 87060 - TL 54530 86970, TL 53860 87180 - TL 53770 87090 and TL 53622 85999 – TL 53705 86087 to licence AN/033/0026/052. All other terms to remain unchanged.

The water will be used for spray irrigation for both licences between 01 March and 31 October inclusive. The proposed abstraction lies within the Old Bedford including the Middle Level and the Cam and Ely Ouse (including South Level) Abstraction Licensing Strategies.
