On 24 September 2012 Vince Cable announced that the government would create a Business Bank.

This publication explains how we are developing the Business Bank. It describes the Business Bank’s purpose, success measures and timescales. It provides market analysis of access to finance for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and outlines existing government interventions that provide support for SMEs. It:

  • explains how we will bring together and build upon existing government finance schemes
  • explores how to consolidate business advice and support services provided by government
