In July 2025, the Council for Science and Technology (CST) provided advice to government on how the UK can build a sovereign AI chip design industry. CST made 6 recommendations, covering the skills and training requirements for chip designers, finance and investment for industry, and the access to infrastructure and technology the UK would need to build to achieve this.
