British Sugar PLC: application made to abstract water

British Sugar PLC has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application (in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006).
The application is to vary licence serial number 03/28/68/0003 which authorises the abstraction of water from the River Trent at Newark Sugar Factory, Great North Road, Newark-on-Trent, at National Grid Reference SK 80092 55286.
The variation applied for is to increase the daily and hourly abstraction quantities but keep the annual quantity the same. The current quantities are:
- 273 cubic metres an hour
- 6,546 cubic metres a day
- 1,545,672 cubic metres a year
Between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.
The applicant wants to change the quantities to the following:
- 460 cubic metres an hour
- 11,000 cubic metres a day
- 1,545,672 cubic metres a year
Between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.
