Brice Aggregates Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary licence serial number AN/037/0031/013 which authorises the abstraction of water from the sand and gravel using a sump and pump at Coleman’s Farm, Witham, Essex for the purpose of mineral washing.
The variation applied for is to change the purpose of abstraction from mineral washing to the top up of a lagoon for subsequent mineral washing, dust suppression, aggregate recycling and concrete production.
The variation applied for is also to change the location of abstraction from anywhere within a boundary area formed by straight lines running between the following National Grid References: TL 83333 16053, TL 83943 16408, TL 84382 15617, and TL 83570 15318 to a single point of abstraction at National Grid Reference TL 83556 15683.
The applicant has also applied to change the quantities abstracted as follows:

- 105 cubic metres per day
- 26,775 cubic metres per year
To
- 324 cubic metres per hour
- 324 cubic metres per day
- 82,801 cubic metres per year
The instantaneous rate will change from 3 litres per second to 90.2 litres per second.
