Brett Aggregates Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from the Cover Sand over Kesgrave Catchment subgroup at Lufkins Farm, Great Bentley, Essex within a boundary formed by straight lines between National Grid References (NGRs) TM 09590 22301, TM 09813 22315, TM 09813 22170, TM 09908 22170, TM 09904 22056, TM 09826 22065, TM 09805 22022 and TM 09596 22104 to transfer it to Bentley Brook at NGR TM 10258 21962 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 36 cubic metres an hour
  • 864 cubic metres a day
  • 315,360 cubic metres a year
  • between January and December inclusive in each year.

The transfer of water is for the purpose of dewatering a quarry over a five year period.
