Brett Aggregates Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from the Thames Estuary at National Grid Reference (NGR) TQ 70814 76407 to transfer it to Alpha Lake at NGR TQ 70843 76427 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 1,027 cubic metres an hour
  • 6,543 cubic metres a day
  • 1,576,800 cubic metres a year
  • at an instantaneous rate of 313 litres per second

Abstraction will take place all year round.

Further details are: The proposed abstraction lies within the Medway Abstraction Licensing Strategy reporting area. Water will be discharged (or returned) from Alpha Lake at NGR TQ 70936 75896 to the Thames Estuary at NGR TQ 70919 75892.
