Details of the application

Breheny Civil Engineering Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for two licences.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for two full licences to abstract water from two sources of supply. The abstractions will be from anywhere along the river between the River Devon – Northern extent at National Grid Reference (NGR) SK 78107 51756 to Southern extent at NGR SK 78439 51449 and Middlebeck – Western extent at NGR SK 78475 51448 to Eastern extent at NGR SK 79889 51115.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 720 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,600 cubic metres a day
  • 86,400 cubic metres a year
  • between 01 April 2024 and 31 March 2027.

The water will be used for dust suppression during the construction of a roundabout. Further details are: Construction is due to commence in May 2024.
