Details of the application

Breheny Civil Engineering Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from Middle Beck and River Devon and their tributaries within the area at National Grid References SK 78114 52242, SK 79966 51374, SK 80009 51036 and SK 78008 51471.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 144 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,400 cubic metres a day
  • 158,400 cubic metres a year
  • between 1 April and 30 September inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for dust suppression during the construction of a roundabout. Construction is due to be completed by October 2025.
