Breedon Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number MD/028/0036/010 to abstract water from underground strata comprising of Carboniferous Limestone at National Grid Reference (NGR) SK 41235 21165, Cloud Hill Quarry, Breedon-on-the-Hill, Leicestershire, for the purpose of transferring it without intervening use to NGR SK 41340 21920 at Ramsley Brook.

The variation applied for is to increase the abstraction volumes to:

  • 178.2 cubic metres an hour
  • 3,207.6 cubic metres a day
  • 1,170,774 cubic metres a year
  • At an instantaneous rate of 49.5 litres per second.
