Breedon Trading Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from Derwent Carboniferous Limestone and Dove Carboniferous Limestone at Dowlow Quarry, Sterndale Moor, Buxton within the area outlined by the following National Grid References: SK 10850 67050, SK 10600 66850, SK 10050 67350 and SK 10200 67500 to transfer it to a soakaway at National Grid Reference SK 10910 67450 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 360 cubic metres an hour
  • 8640 cubic metres a day
  • 1,840,000 cubic metres a year
  • between January and December inclusive in each year.

The water will be used for dewatering excavations to maintain safe working conditions and enable construction work.
