Details of the application

Breedon Cement Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number 03/28/38/0002 which authorises the abstraction of water from underground strata comprising of Derwent – Secondary combined at Hope Valley, Hope, Derbyshire.

The variation applied for is to add a purpose to the abstraction point at National Grid Reference SK 17160 81730.

The applicant has applied to add the following volumes to the licence:

  • 13.5 cubic metres an hour
  • 324 cubic metres a day
  • 118,260 cubic metres a year

The applicant intends to use the water for dust suppression.
