These guidelines can assist the regional QA teams and others outside the surgeon’s immediate colleagues, to assess the quality of breast surgery afforded by a screening unit.

They can also help trust chief executives and cancer networks to identify the resources and skills needed to care for women with screen-detected breast cancer.
