You must apply for:

  • approval to use boars in artificial insemination
  • approval to use bovine animals for semen collection
  • a licence for your premises to be a quarantine, collection or storage centre for animal semen collection

  1. In Wales, there are new fees for bovine and boar semen collection and breeding licensing and approval services from 5 July 2023. Some fees will increase again on 1 July 2024.

  2. In England and Scotland, there are new fees for bovine and porcine semen and embryo collection and breeding from 1 July 2023. Some fees will increase again on 1 July 2024.

  3. Updated the welsh language version of the application form to the use boars for artificial insemination.

  4. Uploaded an updated version of the application form for permission to use boars in artificial insemination.
