Bossington Estates Management Ltd has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence .
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is for a licence to remove a weir which is an obstruction or impediment to flow of the River Test at Bossington Estate, Houghton Stockbridge National Grid Reference SU 33877 30769.
The weir will be removed to provide an environmental improvement by increasing flow, improving natural habitat, reinstating free fish passage, and reconnecting this section of river with the natural floodplain providing flood storage benefits.
This proposal has been prepared in accordance with the Test and Itchen Restoration Strategy in partnership with the Environment Agency and Natural England.
