BMATT (CZ) deployed a 5 man In Country Training Team (ICTT) to Galati, Romania from 24 Jun to 16 Jul 12. The team delivered a “Train the Trainer” Pre Deployment Training (PDT) package to instructors from 282 Mechanised Infantry Brigade of the Romanian Armed Forces (ROU).

The aim was to deliver a training package to 43 instructors in order to assist them with training their respective battalions for operations in Afghanistan. The students were a mixture of new officers and experienced Senior Non Commissioned Officers who thoroughly enjoyed the training.

The instructors who attended the course responded well to the lessons that were delivered and were extremely keen to glean as much information from the ICTT as possible. Many new skills were taught, and comparisons were made with their existing drills and different methods that the ICTT demonstrated. After 2 weeks of instruction, the students confirmed that they had understood the lessons by carrying out a PDT training package for the entire 300 battalion (around 350 soldiers). This demonstrated that they had a good understanding of the lessons taught and were comfortable delivering them.
