Details

Following the ‘Review of the tax arrangements of public sector appointees’ published on 23 May 2012, government departments were required to implement the recommendations of the review within 3 months (from 23 August 2012).

BIS has implemented the recommendations of the review and sought the relevant tax assurances from all off-payroll appointees. For transparency purposes the data shows details on:

  • the number of off-payroll engagements for those earning more than £220 per day for longer than 6 months since 23 August 2012 to 31 March 2013
  • the number of these for whom assurance as to their tax obligations has been sought
  • the number who have successfully provided assurance
  • action taken against those who have not
