Details

Following the ‘Review of the tax arrangements of public sector appointees’ published on 23 May 2012, government departments were required to implement the recommendations.

BIS and its partner organizations have implemented the recommendations of the review and sought the relevant tax assurances from off-payroll appointees within scope. For transparency purposes the data shows details on:

  • the number of off-payroll engagements for those earning more than £220 per day and lasting more than 6 months duration as at 31 March 2014

  • new engagements or those that reached six months duration between 1 April 2013 and 31 March 2014

  • engagements of board members, and/or senior officials with significant financial responsibility during that period

  • the number of these for whom assurance as to their tax obligations has been sought

  • the number who have successfully provided assurance

  • action taken against those who have not
