This report presents findings from a 3 year quality of life study conducted at HMP Birmingham following its transfer from the public sector to G4S in 2011. Detailed surveys of staff and prisoners’ perceptions of their quality of life, interviews and observations were conducted in 2011, 2012 and 2013 in order to evaluate the impact of this transition.
