Bethell Construction Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from underground strata consisting of sands and gravels (Secondary (B)) at Burneside, Cumbria at National Grid References SD 50842 95092, SD 50880 95092, SD 50880 95054 and SD 50842 95054 in Burneside, Cumbria. To transfer it to the River Kent at SD 50893 95182 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 24 cubic metres an hour

  • 572 cubic metres a day

  • 210,240 cubic metres a year

  • between 1 April and 31 March inclusive in each year.
