Details of the application

Bathgate Silica Sand Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a licence to abstract water from a lagoon within the following National Grid References SJ 77717 62320, SJ 78338 62320, SJ 78338 61873, SJ 77717 61873, to transfer it upstream to the Arclid Brook at National Grid Reference SJ 78895 61679 without intervening use.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 54 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,300 cubic metres a day
  • 234,000 cubic metres a year
  • between March and October inclusive in each year.

The purpose of the transfer is river augmentation. All water will be discharged to the same source of supply.
