The Environment Agency has received an application to vary an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016 involving substantial change to a permit from Dunn Bros Recycling Limited.

The variation to change an existing waste operation standard rules permit to become an installation. The main installation activity is a S5.4A(1)(b)(iv) activity - recovery or a mix of recovery and disposal of non-hazardous waste with a capacity exceeding 75 tonnes per day involving treatment in shredders of metal waste, including waste electrical and electronic equipment and end-of-life vehicles and their components. in addition to the above, the proposed is also to retain storage and transfer of hazardous waste (less than 50 tonnes at any one time) as a waste operation activity. The change to the waste operation activity is limited to the addition of 2 new waste codes to the activity. There are no point source emissions to air. The site currently has one point source emission to sewer located at the front entrance to the outside yard of the site (S1). Only clean surface water run-off discharges to sewer during normal operations.
