Avove Limited: application made to abstract water

Avove Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract groundwater from the Frodingham Ironstone Member at Ashby South Grange, Scunthorpe in the area formed by National Grid References SE 91411 07899, SE 91311 07896, SE 91410 07972 and SE 91332 07969 to discharge it to sewers.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 108 cubic metres an hour

  • 2,592 cubic metres a day

  • 614,304 cubic metres a year

  • all year (see description).

The abstraction is for dewatering an excavation (shaft) to a depth of 16 metres to provide dry working for its construction. This will be a one-off abstraction for a period of 9 months beginning any time after the licence is issued.
