Avove Limited: application made to abstract water

Avove Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from secondary ironstone aquifer at Scunthrope Briggs, Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 108 cubic metres an hour

  • 2,592 cubic metres a day

  • 298,080 cubic metres a year

  • 5 months from the point of issue, June 2024.

The water will be used for dewatering groundwater to the sewer for the purpose of construction. Abstraction will take place within the area defined by the National Grid References (NGRs) SE 90017 11271, SE 90096 11286, SE 90075 11387 and SE 90044 11382 and discharged to 4 separate points within a sewer at NGRs SE 90077 11374, SE 90040 11379, SE 90026 11316 and SE 90090 11332.
