Details of the application

Aston Villa Football Club Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is to vary licence serial number MD/028/0016/001, which authorises the abstraction of water from the Mercia Mudstone strata at the Bodymoor Heath Training Ground, Bodymoor Heath Lane, Middleton, Tamworth B78 2BB (National Grid Reference SP19257 97544).

The variation applied for is to add a new borehole to replace the existing borehole which is due to be abandoned when the HS2 rail link is constructed. The proposal also requests all year abstraction amounts for spray irrigation to be increased from 73,000m3/yr to 78,000m3/yr since the replacement sand-based training pitches require greater irrigation volumes.
