Details of the application

Associated British Ports has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from the Flamborough Chalk Formation at Grimsby Port in Grimsby, Lincolnshire at National Grid References TA 27703 10621 and TA 28424 10485.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 80 cubic metres an hour
  • 1,920 cubic metres a day
  • 600,00 cubic metres a year
  • At an instantaneous rate not exceeding 22 litres per second.

Abstraction will take place all year to supply potable water for on site operations.
