Details

The speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) neuro-disability tool is one of a number of Early Practice ‘Changes’ that were available to use in youth offending teams before the technical deployment of AssetPlus. Each YOT could decide locally whether to implement each change.

The SLCN screening tool and supporting guidance was designed to help practitioners identify any SLCN needs in young people. It was based on the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists’ (RCSLT) screening tool which was made broader to include other elements of neuro-disability.

Please ensure you read all of the supporting guidance before implementing the tool.
