Details
In 2018 the Home Office commissioned RAND Europe to conduct a study to evaluate the existing research and evidence base on domestic corruption in the UK. The study, completed in December 2018, aimed to strengthen understanding of corruption at that time by identifying evidence gaps, assessing sectors likely to be affected by corruption and establishing factors that may lead to corrupt activity. The report focused on research published between 2008 and 2018, with additional focus groups and interviews in specific sectors.
The views expressed in this report are those of the authors and not those of the Home Office. Findings reflected the views of individuals who took part in the research, with indicative examples not externally verified. Contextual and policy developments have occurred since the report was completed in 2018, resulting in changes to the wider corruption and anti-corruption landscape. The content takes no account of information available after Dec 2018.
This research was commissioned by the last Conservative government, and prior to 5 July 2024.
