This guidance is for the 2027 reporting year (1 January to 31 December 2027).
Use RAM version 1.1 to assess recyclability for the 2026 reporting year (1 January to 31 December 2026).
The aim of the recyclability assessment methodology (RAM) is to incentivise the use of more recyclable materials in the manufacturing and use of packaging by producers incurring higher disposal costs under the extended producer responsibility (EPR) for packaging scheme if less recyclable materials are used.
Large producers obligated under EPR for packaging to pay household packaging waste disposal fees are legally required to use RAM 2027 to assess and report the recyclability of the household packaging they supply for the reporting year 1 January to 31 December 2027.
You:
- must use the RAM 2027 materials assessment guidance to assess the recyclability of your packaging
- should read the RAM overview to understand the policy principles underpinning the RAM 2027
