ASRU operational newsletter, 6 April 2021 (accessible version)

Published 20 April 2021

Dear Newsletter Recipient,

Please be aware of two updates from the Animals in Science Regulation Unit.

Returns of Procedures 2021

The 2021 Returns of Procedures updated spreadsheet and guidance is now available to download from the Home Office website.

If you have a project licence that has, or will, expire or be revoked between 01 January 2021 and 31 May 2021, you should use the above link to access the Returns of Procedures form and submit it to ROPReturns@homeoffice.gov.uk.

The Returns of Procedures process will be embedded into ASPeL, and we estimate this will be launched in June 2021. We will provide an update on the progress of this development shortly. All Returns of Procedures submitted on forms before June will be automatically added to ASPeL for you, and the ASPeL form mirrors the new 2021 form on the link above.

Licence Fees 2021-2022

The financial year for personal licence fees ended on 05 April 2021, and the new year began on 06 April. There is a transfer window still in place between 01-10 April where any personal licences that are revoked, granted or transferred between these dates will have their fees automatically adjusted to correct them to just one billing instance.

We will be in contact again after 10 April to confirm billing details before the invoices are issued. Please liaise with your Single Point of Contact if you have any concerns or queries related to personal licences.

There is no change in the cost of a Personal Licence or an Establishment licence for this year 2021-2022. These fees will remain the same as 2020-2021, administrators can see the cost of licence fees at their establishment within ASPeL.

Kind regards,

Martin Whiting
