Anglian Water Services Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.

The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.

The application is for a full licence to abstract water from underground strata comprising chalk at National Grid Reference (NGR) TL 81593 63643 near Bury St Edmonds, Suffolk.

The application is to abstract water as follows:

  • 1,600 cubic metres a day

  • 584,000 cubic metres a year

The water will be used for river support.

Further details are: All water will be discharged at NGR TL 82139 63730 to augment the flow in the River Linnet.
